3D Printing & Printers for Hobbyists, Small Businesses, & Education

Here at JB3D we know that 3D printing is seen as a technology only available to those with a technical background. Whilst it is true that many machines bought off the internet are today languishing in cupboards and attics because users have purchased machines that are either not suitable for the required use or because of a lack of understanding in the workflow to generate the files to produce a print. We have gone through many of these issues ourselves and understand that with a little advice and training everybody can enjoy and share in the passion to create.

It’s for this reason that we offer a one-stop starter option where we will train you on the usage and calibration of your 3D printer. We will:

– Teach you about your newly purchased printer, explain what all the parts do

– Show you how to calibrate your printer to get the best results

– Explain some of the more common maintenance requirements

– Help you download the software you need create files and ‘slice’ them

– Go through where to find 3D printable models (either free or premium ones), how to convert those files into language that your 3D printer understands, and some of the basic settings in Ultimaker Cura in order to optimize your prints, should that be for strength or speed

We are not an internet “drop shipping” company. We differentiate ourselves in guiding customers and providing a value-added service. Whether it be just advising on the right type of machine; unboxing, setup, and calibration of the machine in our workshop prior to using it at home or office; or following a workshop on understanding the workflow in preparing the files for the 3D printer to work. We can help!

Consumables & Spares

3D printing does not need to be an expensive hobby/business with printer filaments and resins now at an affordable price. Most FDM printers come with a small sample of filament to get the maker started. However, we stock filaments (PLA, PETG, ABS, TPU, etc.) from eSUN & FilaLab in many colours and variants, starting at around €18/kg. Bottles of resin from eSUN are also available in more limited colours from around €45/litre

Be mindful though, that different filament polymers print at different temperatures and some need heated chambers to stop warping. Not all printers are able to print at some of the higher temperatures and filaments containing carbon fibre or metals will need the brass nozzles to be replaced

Repairs & Maintenance

3D printers go through quite some stresses during their life, and as such there are times when parts may need to be replaced over and above the usual calibration. This is perfectly normal.

If your printer is no longer working as expected, we can service it in our workshop, replacing parts that are nearing the end of their natural life. Giving you peace of mind that you’ll be back printing to your expected standards

Printing Services

Not everybody is a maker. Some customers are looking to have a part made and printed for them

There are literally millions of part files available on the internet, ranging from manga figurines to old-timer car parts no longer available in circulation. These can be downloaded (copyrights must be honored) from specialist sites and then processed into printable files

Our technical team can create these files for you, and our printer farm can produce the final parts

Learning Workshops

After purchasing your printer whether through us or if you already have a 3D printer, we offer a beginners course in understanding the full workflow from where to find designs to completing a successful print. You will learn:

  • How to create a basic design
  • How to ‘slice’ a file to send to the printer
  • How to calibrate your printer
  • How to post-process your creation

Courses are held on Saturdays at our offices in Bierges
